Experience

Experience across products, systems and delivery.

My career has evolved from building websites to shaping complex products across e-commerce, mobile, and B2B platforms. I bring a grounded approach that bridges user needs, refined UI design, and seamless collaboration with delivery teams.

2025–Present

Product Designer (UX/UI)

2045 Studio Embedded at Bupa Australia · Health Journeys Squad

Designing clearer health journeys for Bupa members

I work across Bupa’s website, member portal, Blua platform and member communications. I conducted a UX audit across these touchpoints to identify problems with usability, engagement, discoverability and continuity between different stages of a member’s health journey.

I also reviewed Bupa’s member communications and designed frameworks for different audiences and health journeys. After identifying email as a primary engagement channel, I created Clarity, Bupa’s first dedicated email marketing design system. It includes reusable Figma components, responsive templates, design tokens and accessibility guidance. I work with Brand, Marketing, Content, Delivery and Engineering to review designs, improve journeys, plan testing and maintain implementation quality.

2018–August 2025

Product Designer

Overdose Digital

Designing ecommerce products for B2C and B2B customers

At Overdose, I worked on ecommerce and digital-product engagements for national and international brands. My responsibilities covered research, discovery and UX audits through to user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity Figma design, prototypes, stakeholder presentations and developer handoff.

I designed product discovery, product-detail, cart, checkout and account journeys across Shopify, Magento and commercetools. I also created reusable interface patterns and component libraries, and worked with analytics and development teams on conversion opportunities, testing plans and design QA. Selected projects include Amber Tiles, Hastings Deering, BTC.com Australia and AIGI.

2018

UX Designer

General Assembly UX Design Immersive

Developing a human-centred approach to product design

I completed a ten-week, full-time UX Design program covering user research, synthesis, affinity mapping, personas, journey mapping, ideation, wireframing, prototyping and usability testing.

I applied the process to end-to-end case studies, including a redesign of the PTV mobile experience, a HOYTS cinema kiosk, the IKEA website and a digital platform for campers. The program strengthened my ability to turn research findings into design decisions and test ideas before moving into high-fidelity design.

2017–2018

UI Developer

Realityloop

Translating interface design into responsive digital experiences

I built responsive and accessible Drupal interfaces using Twig, HTML, CSS and JavaScript for organisations including Victoria University and the City of Boroondara. Working within Agile teams, I translated design files into reusable interface patterns and maintained consistency across screen sizes.

This role gave me a practical understanding of front-end constraints, accessibility and component-based implementation. It continues to shape how I design systems, document responsive behaviour and collaborate with engineers.

2013–2017

Digital Web Designer

Digital Storytelling Collective

Creating websites, campaigns and digital content for varied audiences

I designed and developed responsive websites, landing pages, email templates and digital campaigns using Drupal, WordPress and Grav. My role also included brand design, content production, motion and video, allowing me to work across the full visual experience rather than the interface alone.

I managed website updates, improved performance and applied SEO practices for clients including Sushi Sushi, Redgum Software, Testgrid, Brave Energy, Lucidity Software and ABB Australia.

2010–2013

Digital Web Designer

Industry Marke Headland Machinery

Making technical products easier to understand online

I designed responsive websites, ecommerce pages and campaign assets for industrial and manufacturing clients. My work covered wireframes, page layouts, front-end production, website maintenance, email marketing and visual content for both digital and print.

Working with machinery and other technical products taught me how to organise detailed information for specialist audiences. That experience later became particularly useful when designing B2B ecommerce journeys and complex product interfaces.

2008–2010

Web Designer · Freelance

EMZAC Bogotá, Colombia

Designing web experiences for tourism businesses

I worked directly with clients to understand their business needs, design website layouts and prepare final assets for development. The role helped me develop an early understanding of client communication, information hierarchy and practical design handoff.

2007–2008

Junior Web Designer

Muvii & Terra

Starting my career in web design and digital production

I began my career supporting website layouts, visual assets and content integration while building foundational skills in HTML and CSS. This was my introduction to designing for real content, users and the technical requirements of the web.

DIGITAL PRODUCT DESIGNER

I’m Luis Saavedra.

My background in industrial design still shapes how I work: I think of digital products as practical tools that need to be clear, useful and well made. I bring that approach to complex workflows, clean UI and design systems that hold up in production.
